There is something special about photographing luxury safari lodges – the friendliness of the team, being out in nature with the sun on your skin, the dust on your shoes and the nights filled with animal sounds and millions of stars lighting the night sky. Each moment spent in these breathtaking environments inspires creativity and passion for photography, as I strive to capture the essence of the experience.
I am sure every photographer and filmmaker would jump at the chance to experience these feelings on every shoot, so I don’t take these experiences lightly. The thrill of capturing wildlife in their natural habitat, the serene beauty of a sunrise or sunset, and the unique architectural details of each lodge create a rich tapestry of stories waiting to be told.

I spent a couple of days at the Hippo Lakes Luxury Safari Lodge to add some details and mood photography to their Luxury Safari Lodge photography image library.
Most of the spaces had been photographed previously, but new additions to their luxury tented accommodation needed content for their marketing materials, website and social media. These new tents, designed with comfort and style in mind, provide an immersive experience for guests and deserved to be showcased through high-quality photography.
Of the hundreds of images provided for their image library, I have focused this post on the details and textures that make a Luxury Safari Lodge feel warm and inviting. From the intricate patterns of the textiles used in the decor to the stunning views from the private decks, each element contributes to a sense of luxury and relaxation.
I am off to photograph and film a brand spanking new luxury tented safari lodge in a week’s time – this one will be a truly immersive experience with the animals including the kitty cats with sharp teeth having free reign. The anticipation of working in such a dynamic environment fuels my passion for this field, and I can’t wait to share the visual stories that will emerge from that adventure.
